white background for site.png

Palm Desert is one of the most established and desirable cities in the Coachella Valley, known for its balance of upscale living, outdoor recreation, and everyday convenience. Centrally located between Palm Springs and La Quinta, it offers a wide range of neighborhoods, from gated golf course communities to more affordable residential areas, making it a popular choice for full-time residents, seasonal homeowners, and retirees alike.

One of Palm Desert’s most iconic destinations is El Paseo, often referred to as the “Rodeo Drive of the Desert.” This mile-long shopping district is lined with luxury boutiques, art galleries, fine dining, and stylish cafés. It’s a favorite spot for both locals and visitors to shop, dine, and stroll palm-lined sidewalks while enjoying mountain views and public art installations.

Beyond El Paseo, Palm Desert offers an active lifestyle with world-class golf courses, hiking trails in the nearby Santa Rosa Mountains, and popular attractions like The Living Desert Zoo and Gardens. The city also hosts community events, farmers markets, concerts, and seasonal festivals that bring residents together throughout the year.

With its strong sense of community, central location, and wide variety of housing options, Palm Desert continues to be one of the most sought-after places to live in the Coachella Valley, offering something for nearly every lifestyle and stage of life.

The Living Desert Zoo and Gardens is one of Palm Desert’s most beloved attractions and a must-visit for families and animal lovers. This unique zoo focuses on desert ecosystems from around the world, featuring native wildlife, botanical gardens, and immersive exhibits that highlight conservation and education.

One of the most unforgettable experiences here is the opportunity to feed a giraffe up close, making it a favorite moment for visitors of all ages. From giraffes and cheetahs to scenic walking trails and interactive exhibits, The Living Desert offers a fun and meaningful way to connect with wildlife in a desert setting.

The Shops at Palm Desert, formerly known as Westfield Palm Desert, is a convenient indoor shopping center offering a mix of retail, dining, and everyday essentials. It’s a go-to destination for both locals and visitors looking for a comfortable, air-conditioned shopping experience year-round.

Inside, you’ll find popular stores like H&M, Victoria’s Secret, and a variety of national retailers, along with casual dining options such as a local favorite, Stuft Pizza, Auntie Anne’s, and Cinnabon. It’s an easy stop for shopping, grabbing a bite, or spending An afternoon out of the heat.

Great Shakes

The menu is written on a giant chalkboard, and the list of shakes seems to go on forever. Every shake is made to order and topped off with one of their signature mini donuts perched right on the straw. They even offer lactose-free options! Also on the menu are malt, floats, & dole Whip

Whether you're strolling downtown after dinner or just looking for the perfect dessert, Great Shakes is a Palm Springs staple that's absolutely worth the stop. Just don't blame me if you find yourself planning your next visit before you've even finished your shake.

The Bump and Grind Trail is one of Palm Desert’s most popular hikes, offering sweeping views of the Coachella Valley from a moderate desert climb. It’s a favorite for locals looking to get in a quick workout while enjoying sunrise or sunset views over the valley floor.

While the trail is accessible year-round, hikers should be especially cautious during the summer months when temperatures can become dangerously hot. I highly recommend early moning Hikes & Proper hydration is essential! As with all desert hiking, it’s important to respect the environment and prioritize safety while enjoying the natural beauty of the area.

The JW Marriott Desert Springs Resort & Spa is one of Palm Desert’s most iconic luxury resorts. Known for its stunning grounds, championship golf courses, full-service spa, and winding waterways complete with gondola-style boat rides, it’s a destination that feels like its own little world in the middle of the desert. One of the most recognizable features of the resort is its flock of bright pink flamingos.

Whether you’re stopping in for brunch, a spa day, drinks with a view, or a weekend getaway, the resort offers a true desert oasis experience. It’s also a popular venue for weddings, conferences, and special events throughout the year.

Fun Fact: If the resort looks familiar, you may recognize it from the two-part Saved by the Bell episode “Palm Springs Weekend,” which was filmed here in 1991.
